Spinach pizza gives pizza a different flair with its delectable change of toppings. The crust is made of multigrain crust which is quite crispy.
If you’re looking for a recipe that’s easy to make especially for your kids, something which is quick to whip yet full of nutrition, this is the perfect recipe for you.
Ingredients
Multigrain Crust:
- Olive oil – ¼ cup
- Skim milk – 2/3 cup
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Yellow cornmeal – ¼ cup
- Flour – ½ cup, whole wheat
- Flour – ½ cup, all-purpose
- Oat flour – 1 cup, 1 ¼ cups of oats blended until they become fine
Toppings for the Spinach Pizza:
- Mozzarella cheese – 1 ½ cups, part-skim, shredded
- Mushrooms – 1 cup, fresh, sliced
- Frozen spinach – 10 ounces, thawed then drained; or fresh spinach – 2 cups, torn
- Pizza sauce – 8 ounces
- Ground beef (vegetarian) – ½ lb; lean ground beef would also work (for non-vegetarians)
Directions
For the crust
- On a wide chopping board or clean counter, combine the baking powder, cornmeal, whole-wheat flour, all-purpose flour and oat flour. Make a crate in the middle of the flour mixture and slowly mix the milk and oil. Using a fork, gradually mix the flour to the milk and oil mixture until dough is formed.
- Gently knead the dough for about 10-12 strokes. Get a 12-inch pizza pan and lightly grease it. Press dough in the pan, building up on its edges.
- Put the pan in the oven and bake at 425 degrees F temperature for about 12-15 minutes until the dough is brown.
For the toppings
- Warm the ground beef (vegetarian) in a saucepan or microwave. If you’re using ground beef, you need to cook them first until they’re not pink anymore and mix it with pizza sauce.
- Arrange your spinach on your pizza crust. Top with the “meat” mixture. Arrange the mushrooms on top of the meat and then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the oven at 425 degrees F for about 10-15 minutes.
